In the first in series of Q&As with our team of VAs, Jenny talks about her love for the arts, her crisp addiction and dream dinner party guests...
What was your first job?
A summer office temp for HMRC just before I started university.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
An author - I wanted to write a book about my life. It would definitely have been a comedy!
When did you know you wanted to work in the arts?
I saw Joseph with Jason Donovan and Linzi Hateley when I was seven. It was the first production I’d seen at the theatre and I read the programme over and over, but I don’t think I realised it was an actual career at the time.
What is your favourite theatre memory?
The final night of the UK and International Tour of Mary Poppins in Dubai in May 2017. It was the first production I’d ever worked on from the very first moment and all the way through to the end.
What do you like about being a VA?
I’m organised and I love lists and spreadsheets. I love helping other people get organised and freeing up their time to do the things that they love.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Spending time with my family. We live in the New Forest and love to go for walks that often involve stopping at tea rooms for cake.
Guilty pleasures?
Crisps. And True Crime podcasts!
Favourite food?
Other than crisps? The spaghetti bolognaise that my husband makes.
Pret order?
Posh cheddar and pickle baguette and tea with a dash of milk.
Coffee or tea?
Tea.
Les Mis or Phantom?
I’m not sure I should answer this one as I’m working on both right now. But Les Mis!
Favourite tipple?
Wine or gin.
Favourite holiday spot?
Menorca - we used to go every year when I was a child and I can’t wait to take my two-year-old there when we can finally travel again.
Best way to relax?
Listening to audiobooks.
Hobbies?
Going to watch musicals - the reason why I love my job so much!
Three words to describe you?
Always on time.
Last supper?
Glass of red wine and some crisps and dip.
Dinner party guests?
My grandparents. I’d love to have all four of them together around a table again one last time.
Favourite show?
Greys Anatomy.
